Opened in 1897 by HRH Edward VII, the Oxford Town Hall has been lovingly maintained with each space now captivating and totally unique.

From the grandeur of the Main Hall, perfect for celebrations of up to 500 people, to more intimate celebrations in the St. Aldate’s Room – or even take your vows in the traditional Court Room, we can cater for any size celebration.

The Main Hall
With its breath-taking sculptured high alcove ceiling, beautiful balconies and the impressive Father Willis organ on the expansive stage, the Main Hall is the largest of our licensed rooms in this awe-inspiring Oxfordshire wedding venue. As one of only a few Oxfordshire wedding venues with the capacity to cater for larger parties, this versatile space can host up to 300 dining and 500 in a more informal setting. The Main Hall is the perfect space to dance the night away with your guests whether that be with a DJ or a live band.

The Assembly Room
The enchanting Assembly Room in our delightful Oxfordshire wedding venue will be sure to impress your guests with its vast fireplace, huge oil paintings and gorgeous wood panelling. A versatile space perfect for any celebration, the Assembly Room has the capacity for 140 guests for dinner and 160 for dancing. The high ceilings, magnificent chandeliers and near floor to ceiling windows ensure this truly romantic space is flooded with natural light – perfect for capturing the most beautiful photographs.

The Old Library
The stunning Old Library with its American walnut wood panelling and high timber ceiling has a warm, intimate ambience but is spacious enough to accommodate up to 120 guests. St. Aldate’s Room
Say your ‘I dos’ in the exquisite St. Aldate’s Room. Adorned with wood panelling, stained glass windows and a beautiful carved fireplace, it is the perfect space for an intimate wedding or celebration. Celebrate with up to 40 guests with a ceremony and reception, and 30 seated guests for dining in this stunning room in Oxfordshire’s finest wedding venue.

The Court Room
Perfect for that legal declaration of your love, the beautiful and historic Court Room offers couples a quirky and totally unique space. The Court Room at Oxford Town Hall has previously been used to hold many live court sessions as well as featuring in films and TV shows. With traditional court room fixed bench seating for 43 people, as well as space for another 50 in the balcony above, make your big day truly unforgettable as you tie the knot in our fabulous Oxfordshire wedding venue.

Stewards and security
Stewards or Security Industry Authority (SIA) personnel may be required based on a risk assessment of your event by our team. SIA security is charged at £15 + VAT per security personnel per hour and there’s a minimum requirement of two for guests of up to 200 people.
Hotel rooms
You may wish to provide your guests with accommodation options if they are planning on staying overnight after your wedding in Oxford. There are many places to stay nearby to suit all budgets. Please contact our team for our recommended list of hotels across the city.
FAQ's
As the Town Hall is situated in the heart of a historic city, there is unfortunately no parking allocated to visitors of the Town Hall. However, we are close to all Park and Ride bus stops and there are various car parks located nearby.
Yes of course.
The Assembly Room, Old Library, Court Room and St. Aldate’s Room are all located next to each other so you can move freely between them – perhaps having your ceremony in one room and moving to another for your wedding breakfast. Speak to our friendly Sales & Events Team for more details and recommendations on what would work best for your day.
The sizes of our rooms vary hugely with capacities ranging from just 6 to 500 so there is a room to suit every type of wedding in Oxford Town Hall.
The Civil Ceremony pricing is based on two-hour room hire, with one hour prior to the ceremony start time and one hour after. Our events team will be on hand before to layout the room and to tidy away afterwards.
The Wedding Reception pricing is per hour and includes the hire of our standard chairs and tables as required. If you would like any extra furniture then please speak to a member of our Sales & Events Team who will be happy to help.

Oxford Town Hall doesn’t charge a corkage fee; however you will need to check this with your caterers/bar company as they may do.
