The tale of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, famously animated in Disney’s Fantasia, is wonderfully evoked by Paul Dukas’ scherzo. This is followed by Mendelssohn’s exquisite Violin Concerto. The concert concludes with highlights from Prokofiev’s expressive and passionate music for Romeo and Juliet.
